Lunch! exhibition 2018
This year again, Big Green Door visited the 2-day trade show for food-to-go, an incredible opportunity to try new products and keep an eye on the most innovative ones. Here are a few of the exhibitors that got our attention.
Cannabidiol makes its way to alcohol alternatives
Botanic Lab, a brand that’s well known for its highly functional drinks and plant milks, is heading in a new direction: bars. The company has created a new range of botanical tea drinks, sophisticated alternatives to both sodas and alcoholic beverages. Among their new products, Cannabidiol botanical tea, presented as “Dutch courage”, to help consumers relax and unwind in a teetotal fashion, thanks to this constituent of cannabis and its natural properties.
When life gives you burnt peanuts… Make peanut butter!
They say great inventions come out of accidents. In the case of Manilife, this is precisely what happened when the team headed outside the “ManiFactory”, forgetting about a batch of peanuts that were roasting. When they came back, they thought they had burnt it, but the taste was such that they decided to create the first ever “deep roast” peanut butter, both smooth and crunchy, and whose flavour is more intense than any others on the market.
BRAVE is a company that offers a new take on BFY snacks, a category which is already crowded with many different ingredients (nuts, corn, root vegetables, more nuts) and methods (oven baked, roasted, popped, etc.). The company stands out by using fresh British garden peas, which are naturally nutrient dense and rich in protein. The peas are roasted and seasoned, turning into tasty snacks which are both nutritious and guilt free.
